ensemble de profundis
The ensemble "De Profundis" was founded in 1999 by
Peter Kooij - known worldwide as
baritone and Early Music expert, his artistic work being documented on more
than 100 recordings, among which 40 are done with the
Collegium Vocale Gent
under Philippe Herreweghe and over 30 with the
Bach Collegium Japan
under Masaaki Suzuki - with the aim to provide an accompaniment for singers
that meets the demands of authentic performance practice. Its members are
soloists and section leaders of renowned orchestras devoted to this
stylistic ideal. The formation varies according to the repertoire which
focuses on 17th and 18th century music.
Apart from Peter Kooij himself, "De Profundis" regularly
collaborates with artists such as Robin Blaze, Jan Kobow, Dorothee Mields,
Ingeborg Danz or Kai Wessel.
